U.S.-listed crypto ETFs recorded another major inflow session on August 20, with Bitcoin and Ether products absorbing a combined $825.8 million as BlackRock accounted for most of the new capital entering both categories.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $606.3 million, according to Farside Investors, extending their inflow streak to four consecutive trading sessions. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, IBIT, dominated with $503 million, representing approximately 83% of the category total.
Fidelity’s FBTC added $64.7 million, Bitwise’s BITB received $26.4 million and ARK 21Shares’ ARKB attracted $12.2 million. Invesco’s BTCO contributed another $3.6 million, while VanEck’s HODL recorded a $3.6 million outflow. The remaining tracked products were flat.
Ether ETFs added another $219.5 million, while Solana funds attracted $14.6 million and Hyperliquid ETFs recorded $5.8 million. Across those four Farside-tracked categories, net inflows therefore reached approximately $845.7 million for the session.
Bitcoin ETFs Approach $1.5 Billion in Four Sessions
The August 20 Bitcoin total exceeded the already-strong $517.2 million recorded on August 19 and marked the largest inflow of the current four-session streak. Bitcoin ETFs have now attracted $297.5 million on August 17, $189.3 million on August 18, $517.2 million on August 19 and $606.3 million on August 20. That produces approximately $1.61 billion of cumulative net inflows over four trading sessions.
BlackRock has been the principal driver. IBIT attracted $160.2 million, $143.6 million, $284.7 million and $503 million across those four sessions respectively, totaling approximately $1.09 billion.
The institutional buying coincided with Bitcoin extending its sharp market recovery. BTC moved above $70,000 on August 20 and traded around $72,000 during the session as declining Treasury yields, regulatory optimism and a large derivatives short squeeze supported risk assets. Reuters reported Bitcoin above $70,000 as crypto-linked equities also rallied.
Ether Adds $219.5 Million as Altcoin ETF Demand Broadens
Ether ETFs recorded an even stronger acceleration relative to the previous session, with net inflows rising to $219.5 million from $186.8 million on August 19.
BlackRock again dominated. ETHA attracted $173.3 million, while BlackRock’s ETHB added $35.9 million. Fidelity’s FETH received $5.8 million, Bitwise’s ETHW added $2.8 million and VanEck’s ETHV recorded $1.7 million. No tracked Ether ETF posted an outflow.
The $219.5 million result was also Ether ETFs’ fourth consecutive positive session, following $30.9 million on August 17, $71.4 million on August 18 and $186.8 million on August 19. Combined inflows over that period reached approximately $508.6 million.
Demand broadened further down the crypto market. Solana ETFs attracted $14.6 million, their strongest session since late July. Bitwise’s BSOL contributed $6.6 million, Fidelity’s FSOL added $900,000 and Grayscale’s GSOL recorded $7.1 million.
Hyperliquid ETFs added $5.8 million after losing $2 million the previous session. Bitwise’s BHYP attracted $2.4 million, 21Shares’ THYP added $800,000 and HYPG received $2.6 million. The August 20 figures therefore show institutional demand expanding alongside the market rally rather than remaining confined to Bitcoin. Bitcoin still captured nearly three-quarters of flows across the four tracked categories, but Ether, Solana and Hyperliquid all finished positive.
More importantly, the accelerating Bitcoin and Ether totals suggest ETF investors were adding exposure even after prices had already moved sharply higher — turning the current four-session run into one of August’s clearest periods of institutional accumulation.
